http://www.bubendorfer.com/ehtml/ehtml/home.html Solo mountain climbers are the most elite group of athletes. Thomas Bubendorfer joined the elite inner circle of solo climbers already as a teenager. He gained world climbing fame at 21 years of age with his record solo climb of the Eiger north face, the highest and hardest mountain face in the Alps. Success and survival at "free solo climbing" require physical and above all mental conditioning at the highest level, as well as detailed planning and preparation and the ability to take calculated risks. Today, at 47, with more than 90 first solo and record ascents in the mountains of the world, Thomas is still at the cutting edge of extreme climbing with five more first ascents in 2009 alone. Climbing has taught him that he must continously fight any kind of stand-still and move on, physically and mentally. He feels safe, he says, only if and when he ventures into the unknown, when he does not play things safe but continues to challenge his personal status quo. Learning and exploiting ones individual potential stands at the center of his thinking. Thomas has shared his extensive experience and insights with the largest companies world-wide and has given more than 900 key-note speeches since 1984.
